After studying science, Angela Pietribiasi graduated in Law in Turin. At the same time, she frequented the studio of the painter Amerigo Carella and, following this, attended the free course on the nude at the Accademia Albertina in Turin. With increasing conviction, she dedicated herself to the artistic research that, in the end, became a way of life.
Pietribiasi débuted in Turin at the Galleria VSV with the director Edoardo di Mauro. Two solo exhibitions then followed, the first curated by Gian Carlo Pagliasso and the second by Guido Curto, where she exhibited large canvases presenting abstractions of the cellular world. At the end of the 1990s, in a double solo exhibition in Trieste curated by Maria Campitelli, she presented her first sound installations alongside her painting. Other exhibitions in public and private spaces followed, where the artist started to show photography and video art. In particular, her videos were selected for the Video.it exhibition, curated by Francesco Poli and the GAM of Turin.
Pietribiasi has also collaborated as artistic and photographic director with communication and production agencies. Following the projection of her video “Dirti Natura” (“Calling You Nature”), chosen by the Piedmont Region to introduce Carlo Rubbia’s speech, she was invited to present her multimedia project on the theme of snow at the Atrium for the Winter Olympics. It was on this occasion that the artist included her lyrics in her work for the first time. The exhibition “Fuoco Bianco” (“White Fire”) launched projects and photographic series on the environment and the climate emergency, treated intimately and poetically.
In 2013, her poetry was selected for the Nuove Voci (New Voices) series, entailing the publication of the poetry and photography book “Da qualche parte, lontano”. Projects and artists’ books followed, as well as her participation in exhibitions and awards. In 2023, the book of photography and poetry “Anniluce” (“Light-years”) was published by Seipersei. The introduction is by Antonio Carloni, who has followed Pietribiasi’s photography projects for a long time. Her works have been presented in Italy and abroad in solo and group exhibitions starting from the late 1990s.
